Blue Rondo A La Turk was a street rhythm that I heard street musicians playing in Istanbul. The
rhythm fascinated me so much there was one Turkish musician, I remember
his name. His name was June 8th; he was born on June 8th so that was
his name. I asked June 8th “What was this rhythm, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1,
2, 3, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 3”.

"Although it's written in 5/4," London says about "Take Five," "the
pianist is often playing groups of 3+3+2+2 [eighth notes], so it's
actually two long beats and two short beats.
